Blackthorn Awarded GSC Euro Final Runner-Up

QCC's Blackthorn incident, assessment & risk management suite has been awarded the European Final runner up in the Global Security Challenge 2008.

The judges were impressed with the quality and creativity the Blackthorn solution and awarded the competition runner up award at the judging ceremony in Brussels on 24th September 2008.

Our CEO, Neil Hare-Brown, was honoured to learn than Blackthorn had been chosen as the only holistic security management product from an entry of over 150 solutions.

QCC becomes PCI DSS QSA
May 2008
QCC have achieved accredited status by the PCI Standards Council to provide services as PCI DSS Qualified Security Assessors (QSA).

We are now able to perform PCI DSS audits and we support these services with our in-depth knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001.

New double sided information sheets have been published for Blackthorn. An overview of the system, coupled with information about the five modules, Alerting & Surveys, Tactical Incident Manager, Secure Assessment Manager, Risk, Impact and Threat Assessor and the Z-Crypto module.

QCC achieves Police Commendation

QCC's Technical Director, John Douglas has recently been awarded a Commanders Commendation by the Hillingdon Borough of the Metropolitan Police.

The commendation is for “Dedication and teamwork in bringing a serious offender to justice” and is a result of his persistent efforts in tracing forensic artefacts on computers used by a highly sophisticated predatory paedophile who used “military grade encryption and wiping tools” to mask his activities. Our CEO, Neil Hare-Brown, has authored a new book for the British Standards Institution entitled 'Information Security Incident Management - a Methodology'.

This book is a practical, step-by-step guide for those responsible for dealing with a range of sensitive information security incidents giving a range of handy hints and tips to improve the response process and aid investigation and recovery from damaging events and crises.

The methodology covers preparation and planning for security incidents, initial steps involving notification and identification and an indepth look at various handling techniques. It concludes with a post incident and aftermath analysis.
