Digital Forensics

For the past seven years our team of forensic scientists and technicians have been examining exhibits for criminal, civil and commercial cases and have built a solid reputation for quality and reliability based on the authoritative and easy to follow forensic technical reports and statements that we produce.

All of our work gets the same exacting attention to detail; whether it is taking an image of a hard disk or other digital media for preservation, right through to full forensic analysis of computers and servers, mobile telephone handsets or cell site data.

Everything we do is carried out to criminal court standard by default – this means that when a minor matter increases in importance later, the potential court case won't fail because early procedures weren't up to scratch.

We have four state-of-the-art laboratories conducting:

  • Imaging; the process of capturing and storing data in a forensically sound manner.
  • Mobile Telephone Analysis; extracting and reporting on the data present on modern handsets.
  • Cell Site Analysis; analysing and reporting on network call record data and comparing values with our own cell tower measurements ready for presentation to a jury.
  • Computer Analysis; examination of laptops, desktops, servers and just about any other device capable of storing digital data, from cameras to satellite navigation units and game consoles.

We also provide a 'Search & Seizure' support service, whether this is for law enforcement or assisting in a civil search order, our experienced and police trained investigators can ensure that the right 'hi-tech' material is seized or captured on scene and that these activities are proportional. Courts are becoming less forgiving when reviewing the results of a search, so it's important to only seize what's appropriate and covered by the warrant.

Our scientists and technicians are highly trained and very experienced in both the specialist field they work with as well as forensic science. Most have or are undertaking post graduate degrees in their particular discipline and all regularly attend professional training courses run by the vendors of the analysis tools we employ.

The attention to detail doesn't end there – every report, statement or supporting document associated with casework undergoes a rigorous three-tier quality assurance review, certified under ISO9001. This includes a technical review by a peer level scientist and an investigators review by a highly experienced senior ex-police hi-tech crime detective.

Once a case goes to court or tribunal, we stand ready to provide expert testimony in support of the case. Our scientists are expert witness trained and very experienced at giving evidence at tribunals, Magistrates and Crown Court. Our location near Chancery Lane in Holborn means attending case conferences with barristers in chambers can be accomplished at very short notice if neccesary.

We are currently monitoring the activities of the Forensic Science Regulator with a view to closely following his guidelines regarding certification and accreditation. To this end, we have just begun the assessment process for ISO17025, the international Forensic Laboratory standard. This ties in with our existing ISO27001 and ISO9001 accreditations.
